Character Description: Zelgadis Graywords
Zelgadis Graywords is more of a quiet type than Lina or Gourry. Zelgadis was transformed by Rezo, the red priest, who is either Zel's grandfather or great grandfather. He said that according to Rezo's age, he could be either one or the other. Zel was turned into a creature made of 1/3rd golem, 1/3rd human, and 1/3rd demon. The golem third turned him into stone, and no sword but the sword of light can hurt him. The human third is a remnant of what he was before Rezo changed him. The demon third lets him run faster than the eye can see, and gives him great powers.
Zelgadis specializes in Shamanistic magic, which pulls it's power from the Astral Plane (the spirit plane). He is very powerful, and has some of the coolest spells in the series, like stone spiker, flare web, and his own version of raywing. He is almost everyone's favorite character. He is introduced in TV episode 2.
Zelgadis travels with Lina because he wants to find a spell that can change him back into a human. His unofficial alias is "The heartless sorcerer swordsman".
