A very demented, but brilliant individual, Dr. Franken Stein was the greatest meister the Death Weapon Meister Academy ever graduated. He was the one who had made Maka Albarn's father Spirit into a Death Scythe, although it was circulated that Maka's mother was the one. He was also the one responsible for making Sid Barrett into a zombie.
To Stein, everything around him is something for him to experiment with - including himself! When he and Spirit were partnered, he would often make secret experiments on Spirit while he slept. As for his work at the academy, he would often bring various animals to dissect, which often included endangered species. He was also romantically involved with Marie Mjolnir, the Death Scythe of Oceania, and was reunited with her when Asura escaped and Arachne resurfaced. Stein is also an enemy of Medusa, and exposed the witch when she posed as the school nurse of the DWMA.
As a meister, Stein is virtually unstoppable. Like Maka, he has the ability to sense soul wavelengths, although still blind to witches using 'soul protect' spells. And like Black Star, he is capable of using his soul wave as a weapon without the aid of a weapon partner. However, he is more flexible in the ways he manipulates the wave attacks. He is also able to use and resonate with ANY weapon partner he chooses, but he draws the line with Excalibur, mostly because of the weapon's overbearing ego.

At most, Stein's eyes are Gray-green. They are not gold!

Stein is just completely awesome! He's One of my favorite characters in Soul eater. The "crazier the better" i alway's say... ok so i don't say that but still. He just needs some lovin XD

yeah, hes not in his mid 40's :/ he would be around 29 or 30 as he is showen to be younger than spirit in a flashback, where spirit tells him off for beating up some guy :P
