Character Description: Chihiro Ogino
Chihiro is a typical shy girl that really acts like a child (because she is one) and is quite scared of haunted places. After she becomes trapped in a spirit world, she must work hard, even though her comrades think she is a klutz. Along the way, she becomes familiar with the work and becomes friends with Lin.
When Chihiro signed a contract to work there, Yubaba (the top of the pyramid, and the boss of the onsen) stole her name and gave her the alias "Sen".
One night, a "stink spirit" arrives at the onsen and Sen is forced to serve this customer. Amazingly, she succeeds with her determination which earns her a huge amount of gold in pay.
As time goes by, she develops courage and focuses on the world outside of her. She also begins to develop feelings for Haku (as in love) which is given by Kamaji because Lin has no idea what love is.

Chihiro is one of my favorite Studio Ghibli characters ever, because she's not such a typical character as some anime. She easily gives up, but when she is determined to do something, nothing can stop her. Even the nasty witch Yubaba. If you want to see a really cardboard character, look at Prince Ashitaka from "Princess Mononoke", or "Mononoke Hime". ... show more »
