After his defeat of Kagato, Prince Yosho had fallen in love with a very beautiful woman named Haruna. However, because she was not royalty, the two could not get married on Jurai. So the two set off into space to find a world where they would live together. The world they found was Earth. However, the journey proved to be a difficult one and Haruna had fallen ill and died just as they were about to land. Grief stricken, Yosho had buried Haruna near their landing place, which was near the Masaki Shirine, and planted Haruna's tree, Camillia, over the grave.

When Yosho found that Camilia had blossomed six months later, he spent whatever free time he had to plant cuttings of the tree in various places in Japan. It was at one of these journeys that he had met Itsuki, who would later became his wife. Together the two raised a daughter, Achika, who in turn had a son, Tenchi. Somehow, Haruna's spirit became disturbed that Yosho had found happiness without her, and using the last of her tree's energy, had transported Tenchi to a world of her making, where Haruna could live the life that she and Yosho had dreamed of.
