Mirei Hidaka is, like Subaru, a medium. But, unlike most, she has post-cognition (meaning she sees things after they happen as opposed to before they happen). She can see the history of anything she touches, so to prevent that, she wears gloves.

She is first introduced after Subaru witnesses the murder on the subway. The police call her to determine what happened. Subaru begins to feel sorry for her because she is forced to witness these kinds of events day after day, and there is nothing she can do to prevent it.

After Mirei's mother is killed by the subway killer, she volunteers as a decoy to catch him. But the plan goes awry, and Mirei is cornered to a narrow ledge. She and the killer fall, but her old childhood friend (also a post-cognitive medium) catches her. The killer escapes and tries to kill Subaru, but as usual Seishiro saves him.
