Anime Description: The Transformers: The Movie
Notice: The Transformers: The Movie is not Japanese animation! It is a cartoon produced in the US. However, it was animated and shown in Japan, and also spawned various anime sequels, updates, and spinoffs, therefore I have decided to include it on this site. If you're one of those hard-core anime purists who can't stand seeing a non-anime series on a site dedicated to Japanese Animation, then just press the Back button on your web browser and pretend like you were never here.
Transformers: The Movie begins in the year 2005. The Decepticons have managed to completely take over Cybertron, while the Autobots set up base on Autobot City on Earth while also planning to take back their home world from the Decepticons.
However, Megatron and the Decepticons stage one final attack on Autobot City in order to destroy the Autobots for good, and the casualties take a tragically huge toll. Optimus Prime and Megatron also have their final battle. However, victory comes at the painful cost of Optimus' life. As he dies, he passes on his Matrix of Leadership.
But a new and much bigger threat has arisen, and its name is Unicron. Unicron is a gigantic planet-sized Transformer that devours entire planets for sustenance. Reformatting Megatron into Galvatron along with many other Decepticons, Unicron sends Galvatron and his troops to destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership so he can continue his galactic reign of terror.
Ultra Magnus takes command of the youthful Hot Rod and the other Autobots in order to stop Unicron and Galvatron. But the Matrix of Leadership still must choose a new Autobot to take Optimus' place and light their darkest hour.....
