Hanyuu is a sort of goddess that watches over Rika. No one but Rika can see her until she takes human shape towards the end of the Kai series. Upon doing this, she pretends to be Rika's cousin and takes the family name "Furude." She and Rika have linked senses and in one episode complains when Rika eats spicy curry and what looked like grape juice about how they taste.

Yeah... she's older in the Manga. But I got the anime-based pillow cover/DVD anyway. And BTW, I estimate her age to be about 14-15 in the manga and 13-14 in the anime, as of her physical form in kai. But due to the flashbacks of her past, she is probably in her late 20's due to the appearance of her daughter. (also in kai)
