Whisper of the Heart follows the adventures of a Junior High School student named Shizuku Tsukishima. She loves to read and write, but her parents pressure her to put more focus on her studies and High School entrance exams.
One day during a subway ride, she spots a mysterious cat. Following it, she ends up at a Curiosity Shop, which is owned by a kindly old man. She checks out the books at the store, and strangely every book she opens reads the name "Seiji Amasawa." As it turns out, the identity of this person is only the beginning of her forthcoming destiny.

This movie is absolutely beautiful! The story is really sweet and original. The characters are all likeable, and we can definitely identify with them, since they are not perfect and that makes them 'real'. The music is great too!(I actually already liked 'Country Roads' a lot even before watching this movie.) Seiji and Shizuku go well together. Both of them are relatively reserved and express themselves either through their music or writing. The way they interact is also very pure and innocent, which is exactly the way I like it. I like that Seiji is the one to express his feelings for Shizuku first without having been obliged to, and that nobody is trying to meddle negatively in their relationship. Maybe the only thing I regret is that there is a love triangle between Shizuku, her best friend and a classmate(I hate love polygons!) This is a movie I won't ever get tired of watching over and over again! ... show more »

Why aren't there any pages for Shizuku and Seiji? I can understand why there WOULD be one for the Baron, since he is in another movie too, but Seiji and Shizuku are very important characters. Anyway, Seiji is a violin maker, but even though he can be a pain to Shizuku who gave him the nickname Stupid Jerk, They are still completely... what's the word... HILARIOUS together. One scene after they sing Shizuku's version of country roads, some lines go like this (The tension builds):
Shizuku: "I never had a chance! This is so unfair. Oh! I was so sure Seiji Amasawa was -"
Seiji: "I was what?"
Shizuku: "A nice, intelligent, civilized person!" ... show more »
