Kimihiro Watanuki is a boy born with strange gift. He can see evil spirits and other frightening visions. However, this gift is a curse as well, and Kimihiro is plagued by these deadly spirits day by day.

His life changes when he meets a mysterious woman named Yuuko Ichihara, who offers him away to end his torment. However, she always works for a price, and lets him work for her until he earns enough money to pay for her services. Yuuko owns a strange and mysterious shop, capable of granting peoples wishes.

Together, they fulfill this purpose, unraveling many strange mysteries on the way.

Kimihiro Watanuki is a young man with a problem... His bloodline can see spirits, and that also means that spirits can see him. They also think that he makes a very tasty meal. One day, while running from a particularly hungry spirit, he gets pulled into the yard of a strange house by a mysterious force.

The house is owned by the space-time witch Yuko-san (who also appears in Tsubasa and Cardcaptor Sakura), who offers Watanuki a deal he cannot refuse: she will remove his powers, but he has to work for her as long as it takes to pay back his debt. Unfortunately, she wants her payment first, so now Watanuki has to clean her house/shop, fix her meals, and help her take care of various spirits.
