In the beginning, Bonz was a minion for Bandit Keith, back at Duelist Kingdom. After Bandit Keith trapped Yugi and the gang, he fussed at Bonz and his crew for failing, because Bonz failed to defeat Joey. (Joey felt like they were being stalked, got kidnapped, the gang went looking for him, Yugi found Joey's wallet, they went looking for him, found him dueling Bonz, and then the rest of them got trapped.)
So, Bandit Keith abandoned Bonz and his crew, and Yugi and the gang eventually burst out of the cave. Then, Bonz and his crew entered Battle City, and scared unexpecting duelists when they wandered into the graveyard by accident. It worked until Yami Bakura came along and challenged them. (Yami Bakura got clues from other duelists, they told him to go into the graveyard, so he did.) Bonz and his crew tried to scare him, but he wasn't scared and challenged them to an all-or-nothing. So, Yami Bakura won and banished Bonz and his crew to the Shadow Realm.

Now that I come to think of it, we never found out the names of Bonz's gang, did we? How we found out that Bonz is called Bonz and that it's spelt Bonz is another mystery.
