Personal Profile
I grew up in California, Colorado, and Tennessee. I've always had a passion for anime, videogames, and toys. When I was in college I helped fan-sub anime by synchronizing English subtitles to Japanese dialog on VHS, took four semesters of Japanese, and taught myself web-based programming to create what would become a very popular anime website.
After graduating from Sacramento State I scored my dream job as a videogame programmer at Working Designs, a company whose games I loved thanks to their quirky humor and Japanese origins. I had the best time of my life working there, getting to travel to Japan, attending the E3 Expos, working with a great team of people, and releasing a number of fantastic games. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the company had to close down seven years later.
Ever since I've been an independent contractor, which has been great. Every project is a chance to learn new skills that I may have not otherwise explored, such as mobile app development or building and repairing PCs. It also allows me time to experiment with new hobbies and to resume learning the Japanese language. I have gained a lot knowledge and experience in 15 years as an independent contractor, however the adventure aspect has begun to fade. I now find myself longing for the consistency and comradely of a team.
