Victor brought over his satellite box and serial cable last night to test out our channel changing problem. With his equipment, the problem still happened, so now we know that the problem is with the TiVo. I was really hoping that wasn't going to be the case, but was also pretty much expecting it.

onClick="goTo(address)". I use the getElementsByTagName to get the first HTML anchor object in the table cell, and then use the getAttribute to get the address that the anchor object points to. The change should be transparent to the user, but is simpler to write and reduces the file sizes a little bit.
Our TiVo started doing that channel-changing thing for the movie channels again last night, so I called TiVo Support this morning. The guy had me unplug the serial cable from the satellite box (a crappy Sony SAT-B55), turn off the power on the satellite box, wait a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on. He said this was to re-initialize the connection, although I told him that the problem had already been fixed after having left the TiVo unplugged all night (which usually works). He said that if it still happens, that I might have to switch to the IR method, but I told him that was not possible because our Sony satellite box works on the same remote codes as our Sony A/V receiver. He suggested that we might need to get one of those IR devices that attaches to the IR signal receiver to block out other signals, but that won't work with our satellite box because there is no visible IR signal receiver. In order to block the signal, I had to cover the entire front. He said that it definitely wasn't the TiVo that was the problem, so I asked if getting a different satellite box would help. He seemed to think so, which would be cool (well, not cool, but less sucky than replacing a TiVo) because I don't like that satellite box anyway, it gets very hot, practically melting the access card. And, well, guess what? I came home tonight and it's doing it again! God I hate this thing! And why is mine the only one in the world that is having this problem?! I did a search on the web and newsgroups, and haven't found a single soul that has this same problem. Did Pacesetter put a curse on me?
Yesterday morning I received a call from someone who offered to host PacesetterSucks.com. He asked if Pacesetter was harassing our host, and I told him that they weren't really harassing since I took the stories down, but that they did threaten and would probably do so again when I put the stories back up. He said that he was an ex-employee of Pacesetter, and not only was everything he read on our site true, but he knew of a lot more horror stories. He offered to host my site, and claimed that he actually wanted Pacesetter to try suing. The call came about 9:20 AM, when I was just waking up. He said that he was at work and needed to call me back, which was good for me so that I could get up and get some water. I always wake up so dry for some reason. Anyway, he did call back about ten minutes later. I told him I was definitely interested, as I wanted to get those stories back up. He said he at work and had to go again, but asked if he could send me an e-mail, which I said would be great. So after confirming my e-mail address, we hung up, and I haven't heard anything since. I hope he just got real busy or something. I am curious as to how he got my number, though, as we don't have it anywhere on the website. I know it's really easy to find online with just a little exploring, but I'm still curious.
Treeses visited her mom yesterday. Apparently her mom is having serious, life-threatening problems with her leg, but she won't do anything about it. And I don't mean like "I'm fine! I don't need any help!" kind of thing, I'm talking about the "I don't have $20 to go to the doctor" or "I don't have a way to get there" type reasoning. So lets see, Treeses gave her money to pay the mortgage so they wouldn't lose their house, bought them a new water heater to replace the one that was leaking heavily, and gave her money to go to the doctor which she spent on food. Can you tell there's something not right here? No, her husband is dad is not dead. No, they're not divorced either. So where is he, you ask? Where is Treese's father? Um, let me see... oh, I think I see him over there in LOSER LAND! When Treeses would first start telling me things about her dad, I figured she probably exaggerated a little bit, like many people do. But now that I've lived with her for over five years, I can tell you that none it is exaggerated. He is a major loser, and their family would probably be better off if they were divorced.
Oh, I got accepted into the SOCOM II beta test program, so I'm hoping to get my disc soon. This means I'll probably be playing a bit more than usual, but I'll try to still keep up with the updates. I was also a beta tester for Everquest, but that game sucked so bad that after two sittings, I just couldn't take it anymore and never put the disc in again. Actually, I think I probably threw it away. I'm also on a TiVo beta test now. Sorry, but I can't say anything about it due to the privacy agreement. Shhhhhhh!

We went to see Underworld this morning, and we both really enjoyed it. I'm really looking forward to when it's released on DVD so that I can watch it without my butt turning numb. After that we went to eat at Homestyle Buffet. The turkey and ham was quite good, as were all the side dishes and salad, but the chicken and roast beef were very dry. Then it time for a little shopping. For our upcoming vacation, we picked up a 256MB Compact Flash card to go with our current 32 MB card. We also got the third and final season of Family Guy on DVD, which contains an unaired episode.
Well, it's been a while since I've listed all the DVDs we've seen recently, so I guess I should do that. There was Dagon, Monk: The Premiere Episode, Blade, Crazy/Beautiful, Unfaithful, Head of State, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (and Bonus Disc), Dark Blue, Bringing Down the House, Cradle 2 the Grave, Bowling for Columbine, Fright Night Part II, The Hunted, House of 1,000 Corpses, Lost in La Mancha, Agent Cody Banks, Daredevil, Hearts in Atlantis, 25th Hour, About Schmidt, Phone Booth, Beverly Hills Ninja, Final Destination 2, Mystery Men, Spliced, Two Weeks Notice, Basic, Punch-Drunk Love, Sweet Home Alabama, Roger Dodger, Secretary.
Dagon really sucked. Really. Monk we saw on TV, we just didn't realize that it was the premiere episode at the time. Blade was still a good movie, and the extra features were entertaining as well. Crazy/Beautiful I found pretty standard and thus boring. Unfaithful was alright, but not quite as suspenseful as I thought it would be. Head of State was just awful. Horrible. Terrible. The Two Towers was still really great, as were the extras. I'm really looking forward to the version they'll be releasing in November. Dark Blue was kind of blah, as was Bringing Down the House and Cradle 2 the Grave. Bowling for Columbine was a really great documentary. It was something like three hours long, but didn't feel like it at all. Fright Night Part II was fun to see again. The Hunted was a not-so-good First Blood rip-off. House of 1000 Corpses, which I had really been looking forward to, was total crap. Lost in La Mancha was another good documentary. Agent Cody Banks wasn't the best, but I liked it a lot better than Spy Kids. Daredevil was lame, Hearts in Atlantis I didn't watch more than a half hour, but About Schmidt was actually entertaining. It was weird, 'cause I just totally wasn't expecting that. And the same with Phone Booth. It actually held my interest all the way through. Beverly Hill Ninja was good to see again, Final Destination 2 I already talked about in a previous update, Mystery Men was still lackluster, and... uh... I don't really remember Spliced, so I guess it wasn't all that good. Two Weeks Notice was alright, Basic was dumb... and confusing. Punch-Drunk Love was also confusing, but at least it was fun. Sweet Home Alabama was pretty standard, Roger Dodger was alright, and finally there was Secretary. I really had no idea what to expect, but it turned out to be pretty good.

I uploaded Byte-Grabber, a program I wrote to extract bytes from a file. I had actually written it a while ago as a simple DOS version, so a couple days ago I made a Windows version that could also be ran from the command line. The only down-side so far is that when running it from the command line, I can't display any output. I'm really not sure how to fix this other than just having a separate program made for DOS that the windows version calls, but I really wanted it to be just one program.
Man, our TiVo started screwing up once again. A few days ago, the red recording light stopped working. Resetting the unit got it working again, but caused the channels changing to start messing up once again. As before, it wouldn't change to any of the movie channels. I checked the serial cable wire, and it was tight in there. I reset the unit, but still nothing. I unplugged it for over an hour and tried it again, but still no change. It wasn't until the next morning after I left it unplugged all night that it started working again. I think I'm gonna have to call TiVo and get another exchange. Yesterday I called the TiVo rebate place. Kariann, the lady on the phone, said that our rebate should be shipped within four weeks now that they're starting to send the next batch of rebates. She said there was a problem because we didn't send in the UPC, but that we did send in a part of the box and that was acceptable to them. She was nice, but I really think that if I didn't call, we wouldn't have received our rebate.
I just watched Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge tonight. We used to watch the Dragon Ball Z series, but the fights just took so long, over so many episodes, that we both got very tired of it. This episode was exactly how the series should have been, no more than one hour of fighting the same person. And during it, I found out why IGPX didn't show up on the TiVo guide. Apparently, it was shown in the middle of other anime series. That was disappointing, as I was looking forward to it, but every time I searched the guide, it didn't show up. So all I got to see was the last episode.

Added images for Haruna (from Narue No Sekai), Grandpa Granger (from Beyblade), and Rezin Schnyder (from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack). Added additional descriptions for the character profiles Cyborg 001,Cyborg 002, Cyborg 003, Cyborg 004, Cyborg 005, Cyborg 006, Cyborg 007, Cyborg 008, and Cyborg 009 (from Cyborg 009). Added the anime profile of Cinderella Boy. Added the character profiles for Koharu (from Inu-Yasha), Sanburo (from Kikaider: The Boy with the Red Guitar), Blade Knight and Sword Knight (from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!), and Vy Low, Kyou Ryu, Gau Ban, and Faury Maya (from Shadow Skill). I also added the percentage that an image is scaled to the image's title. To make things a bit easier for me, I added some code to my script to automatically scale an image if I don't manually specify a scale percentage, and to automatically calculate the other units for a character's height and weight if only the English or metric units are specified.

Fixed the Add Anime and Add Character forms (first they where backwards, and then the submission wasn't working). Also fixed a little quirk with the customizable styles, where the white cell borders that are displayed when using a semi-transparent background would make the table bigger than it should have been.

Wow, how about that! More profiles, and it's only Wednesday! We had a serious thunderstorm here in Redding this afternoon which caused several power outages at the office, so after the third one, we all packed up and headed home. Oh, I forgot to mention one of the changes to the website last time. I switched the search box from SiteLevel to Google. I liked SiteLevel a lot, as it not only gave some nice statistics like what people were searching for, but also let me customize the search results and even use a template so the results would like the rest of my website. Unfortunatly, the free service only allows 1000 pages, and I've been over that number for awhile now.
