Top Anime Games for Android in 2022 Posted Feb 19, 2022
Mobile gaming has advanced to the point of being seriously considered a legitimate platform for gaming in the last decade. As such, we are seeing more and more high-quality iterations of our favorite anime games being ported and developed on Android.
There have been a plethora of anime games to play on your mobile device, and since Android is so much more accessible for video game developers, you can play just about any anime game that has been released in the past year or so. It’s still pretty early in the year, but we will look at the top anime games to play on Android in 2022.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact was released back in 2020, making it one of the brighter events of that year. Many people liken its aesthetics to the legendary Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Its combat and gameplay compare nicely with popular hack-and-slash titles like the Nier and Bayonetta series.
Genshin Impact is an anime, action RPG with gacha mechanics incorporated alongside its riveting design, engaging story, and diverse characters. The game is incredibly addictive, and you can transfer your progress to the console and PC versions of the game. It’s a breath of fresh air when sifting through all the poorly-made, low-budget games that populate your phone's application hub.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links
The legendary card game, Yu-Gi-Oh from Konami, brings its challenging strategy and quirky world of monsters and traps to your phone. You can duel in the classic card game anywhere you can take your cell phone. Over three million players are participating in the World Championships, and there are even duelists with less than six months of experience becoming champions.
Missions in Duel Links allow players to hone their skills and become the best duelists in the world. Learning the basics for Duel techniques and cards is possible with bonuses and extras. It's a lot of emphasis on bringing in new players. The game has indicators to let you know when you can activate cards, and there are many opportunities to learn and practice all the rules.
Shin Megami Tensei Liberation Dx2
Brought to you by Sega and the makers of the Persona series, Shin Megami Tensei is another legendary franchise that has been introduced to Android. In Liberation Dx2, you will take on the role of a Devil Downloader, which is also known as Dx2. A secret society seeks to protect the world from opposing factions, and they have given you access to a special app that allows you to help them with their cause.
You’ll be using classic gameplay mechanics from the series to play through the game. This game is filled with dark themes, epic battles, and enigmatic storylines that make any player curious about the chapters. There are loads of demons to collect, and the graphics push the limits of what’s possible on your Android device. The developers have even implemented measures to experience augmented sessions with their game.
Slam Dunk
Slam Dunk is a 3v3 Basketball anime game that is heavily inspired and adapted by the Japanese Anime of the same name. Distributed by DeNA and supervised by legendary Toei Animation, you’ll be able to use familiar abilities like “Hua Hua Defense,” “Lighting Fast,” and of course the “Akagi Dunk.”
If you’ve watched the show, you may be familiar with all the characters, and you can see some of the original stories along with some classic scenes from the show. You can make your own playing technique by mixing up play styles with the various abilities to choose from.
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage takes all the characters from the amazing Naruto and Boruto series to make this unique take on the fortress defense subgenre of mobile gaming. You will be tasked with growing a village and its resources, creating a fortress of ninja, and using your ninja and resources to defend it. You can go on the offensive, as well. Invade enemy ninja fortresses by destroying traps and taking down shinobi with your most powerful ninja.
In this combination of fortress strategy and some shinobi action, you can spend most of your time designing the ultimate fortress that can protect your village and act as the central hub for your ninja to return after hard-fought missions. Its action is fast-paced, so you’ll have to be on your toes. Don’t think that just because this is a base-building game, you will always have downtime. Enemies could strike at any moment, and you need to be constantly on the ready for a counterattack.
Unlock the true value of your mobile gaming
There are tons of mobile anime games on the market. While all of them won’t be as great as the ones on this list, it’s ultimately up to you to find the one that is not only right for you but helps you spend less time searching and more time playing.
