There are lots of elements of Japanese culture that have taken the world by storm but not many of them have had quite as big an impact as manga. From cartoons on the page, it’s expanded into movies, websites and much more and its history is a long one. In fact, manga is thought to have originated as long ago as the 12th century when it was drawn on scrolls and may well have been the start of Japanese characters being read from right to left.

Fast forward to the twenty-first century and there is a whole host of famous manga artists which countless manga fans all around the world would undoubtedly love to emulate. But it takes great skill, and many years of practice to reach the dizzy heights of illustrators like Akira Toriyama and Hajime Isayama. However, the good news is that there is a video game that can give you a taste of what it must be like to create these amazing stories, as well as the pressures that the illustrators face.

It’s been created by the developers Kairosoft and is a PC game although there is also a free mobile app that is almost as fun and involving to play. The story of the game begins simply and grows more complex as you get into it. Playing the character of the would-be illustrator, you slowly gain experience and, the more you practice, the better you gradually become at creating the comics.

As your competence grows you have to use your judgment to decide when the work you’re producing is good enough to be published. If the publisher agrees, you’re on your way but you also have to be ready for rejection if they think it’s not yet up to standard.

Once you’re published, you begin by having to come up with a different story each week and eventually you progress through to a stage in which a serialization is commissioned. Then, just like in the real world, there’s even the chance to branch out into the movies and other areas.

As to why manga has branched out like this, a great deal of this has to do with the distinctive and versatile graphic style of the drawings themselves.

For example, it even makes the perfect transition to becoming a very successful slots game such as Sakura Fortune that you can find at Leo Casino as well as a number of other sites, which fans can discover by browsing the lists and bonuses available at review sites. The theme of the game is a Japanese princess who has to battle against a series of evil emperors. For manga fans, it’s the ideal introduction to online slots, especially as it's possible to get up to 100 free spins for new players at the casino in question. So, when you’ve had your fill of becoming a manga cartoonist, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the genre in a completely different way.

On the other hand, you could be getting out your pens and trying to become a successful manga artist for real!
