Character Description: Terrence McGinnis
Terrence McGinnis nicknamed "Terry" by friends and family is by birth the eldest son of Warren and Mary McGinnis. By genetics he is the son of Mary McGinnis and Bruce Wayne due to a project called Project Batman Beyond in which Warren's genetic material was rewritten when he went in for what he thought was a flu shot.
Terry was seen as a bad boy and was always getting in trouble. His parents at the time where divorced and Terry lived with his father while his younger brother Matt lived with their mother. Terry's life is changed when he and his father had an argument which ended with Terry storming out of the house. He runs into a group of Jokerz around Wane Manor where Bruce beats them with his cane while Terry punches the others.
But the fight proves to have put stress on his heart and Terry has to help him up to the manor. When Bruce falls asleep Terry stumbles onto the Bat Cave which Bruce catches him in and throws him out of the manor. When Terry returns home he finds that his father has been murdered by Jokerz and has to move in with his mom and younger brother.
It is later discovered that Derek Powers who had assumed leadership of a merged Wayne-Powers was responsible for the death of Terry's father. He sought Bruce's assistance to bringing Powers down, but despite Terry's insistence, Bruce, still shaken from the past event of resorting to using a gun for self-defense, says that he has given up being Batman. Terry isn't moved by this and steals the new Batsuit the second Bruce isn't looking and heads to deal with Powers.
Bruce contacts Terry through the communicator inside the ear of the batsuit's mask demanding he return the suit. But Terry was determined to confront Powers who ordered Warren's death when it is found out that he found a disc containing information on his plans to sell large amounts of biological weapons. During a fight Bruce turns the Batsuit off paralyzing Terry and refusing to turn it back on until he agrees to return the suit.
Terry tries to have Bruce see things through his eyes bringing up the death of his own parents so many years ago asking if he wouldn't want revenge of some kind for them. Bruce switches the suit back on after thinking about it and helps Terry get to Powers and reveal his plans to the world. Later Bruce comes to Terry's house with the offer of a job and Terry excepts much to his mother's delight. Thus begins Batman Beyond's story.
As a person Terry feels bad about his past as a trouble making teen and wants to make up for his past. He wants people to think better of him and works hard by trying harder in school then he did before.
