As can be intimated from its companion series, .hack//sign, the world and "The World" inevitably interact at times. Little do people realize, though, just how powerful those interactions can be. .hack//liminality is a story where the real world becomes entangled in the intrigue of the virtual "World" and its ultimate secrets. It revolves around a group of people whose lives are changed by their contact with "The World".
NOTE: Each episode of .hack//liminality is packed with each episode of the .hack// videogame series (for the PS2 console). Episode 1 (The Case of Mai Minase) comes with .hack//infection and Episode 2 (The Case of Yuri Aihara) with .hack//mutation. Episode 3 (The Case of Kyoko Tohno) will come with the pending .hack//outbreak, and Episode 4 (Trismegistus) will be released with .hack//quarantine.
