Well, there isn't a whole lot of anime to talk about prior to 1980. The most notable are Gatchaman and the series inspired by Leiji Matsumoto, namely Space Battleship Yamato, Galaxy Express 999, and Space Pirate Captain Harlock. There's also Lupin the 3rd, the classic action comedy. Oh yes, and the ...

Well... it's a bit hard to describe anime in the 90's. This was the dawn of the big video age, when you really began seeing anime appearing on home video. I remember back in '97 when I got by box set of Record of Lodoss War for Christmas. Anime in the early 90's was still primarily the realm of otak...

That's what Absolute Anime is all about. This is one of the premiere anime reference sites on the Web, and it just keeps getting bigger.

Locate Robotech in the Anime Profiles section and read up on it.

No, just someone who happens to know quite a bit about anime and is always looking for more. Your questions have piqued my own curiosity, and I seriously want to find the answers.

Several leap to mind. But the one I think you're looking for is a "classic" in its genre: Toshio Maeda's Urotsukudoji.

Hiko was lucky, you might say. Kenshin had hit Hiko with Amakakeru Ryo no Hirameki, the ultimate Hiten Mitsurugi technique. Even with a blunted edge, the sheer impact of the technique could have killed Hiko (in fact, the death of the master is the typical means of passing the mastery of the school)....

Hmm...been thinking about the problem for a bit, Gabby. None of the anime in my recollection spring to mind. Let's see if you can recall some more information. Maybe it can help me in a search. 1. Can you tell me if this scene you are talking about seemed to come from a movie? Or was it from a telev...

Yeah, I know. It's frustrating.

All I wanted to do was look into the peculiar anime trend of ladies with green hair and red clothes (which particularly occured during the 70's and 80's) in hopes of locating a reason for the trend.

I personally really enjoy Trigun as one of my personal favorites. I enjoy it because it has a bit of everything: intense action (you gotta love the gunfights), drama (Vash's continuing struggle with his vow not to kill), and even plenty of humor, including running jokes (such as Vash's tomato juice ...

You wouldn't want to see Revolutionary Girl Utena, then. :(

I can't recall a dramatic anime with a more positive ending.

It's a game based on an anime, IIRC.

In this case, SDF Macross, part of the Robotech trilogy.

Yes. I get the feeling that whoever saw this was watching Robotech when Sci-Fi was airing it around the time of its inception, or maybe when CN's Toonami had it for a while. I seem to recall... of course, why didn't I see it sooner? There is someone who fits the description, in Macross : Milia Jeniu...

You misunderstand. Now I seem to have lost track of who was looking for what. I was asking whoever mentioned this girl he/she saw in the 90's to look up the TV list to see if any of them rang a bell. I've already pretty much run the gamut without much success in identifying the source of a trend.

Curious about what?

I've just been trying to solve this mystery for a few years now, with no positive results.
