On Dec 3, 2013 a server crash wiped out the database...

After the 2013 database crash, most new topics were created in a single forum. This is that forum.

Re: What a week! A server crash wiped out the database!

Post by Seras »

I'm late into looking into this. Oldheads had posted about it on FB but haven't had the time to check it out.
I never thought this would happen and all the posts would be safe and we could just log back in whenever and take a trip down memory lane whenever...
I wish you luck, we're all rooting for your success Theo, it'll happen soon I know it!!
Now that I've settled down a bit, got knowledge of the land and have a routine set up I can finally get back to doing what I wanna do most... Can someone tell me what that is?

As I said before, find a backup for Absolute Anime and restore Absolute Anime; the forums, the comments, etc. I can see that its more than just me that wants Absolute Anime to be fixed and restored from the big error.

Unfortunately we cannot restore the forums or the comments back to the way they were as that data is gone.

1. What about private messages? Truly the only thing I care about.
2. Are we going to build the forums from the ground up then?

[@ webmaster] In the first post in this topic, you said that you're going to look for a backup for Absolute Anime that might take some time to find. So there's still some hope that Absolute Anime can and will be returned to normal and the way it was. So if you keep looking for a backup for Absolute Anime, you could/might just find it. I hope that you find a backup for Absolute Anime so that Absolute Anime can be returned to normal and the way it was.

At this point we are assuming that everything which was in the database is gone. There is only a small chance that we may be able to recover some of it, but even if we do we will not be restoring the forums using that data. Instead, we would create an archived forum that wouldn't allow posting.

I want/hope Absolute Anime to/can be fully repaired.

[@ webmaster] I hope that you find something, such as a backup, that can restore the entire Absolute Anime database.

[IDEA] double check the backups that you have and see if they're working. You can try to fix and restore the backups and Absolute Anime.

Absolute Anime has some social networking atributes which the big error has decreased. Less people and members and screen-names are on Absolute Anime now.

If you can fully restore Absolute Anime back to normal/back to the way Absolute Anime is supposed to be, then more people can come to Absolute Anime, and old Absolute Anime friends can be found on the friends list and the chance of making new Absolute Anime friends can increase.

I hope that Absolute Anime can be fully repaired.

Why do you keep restating the same thing? We get it. We all want it repaired.
You're just beating a dead horse at this point.
