when i was little, the first version of Thumbelina i ever saw was anime and had a purple case. The movie was about a spoilt little girl who wanted a pair of red shoes and her mom wouldnt buy them for her. She caused a fit and then a witch (im pretty sure i cant rememebr all the details) caused her to shrink and she made friends with a boy who was turned to a toad for being bad. she goes through all this trouble to get back to normal size.
Has anyone else seen this movie? i cant remember if it was called thumbelina but i remember the tape was chewed up in the vcr so we had to get rid of it. It was my favourite movie and i cant find anything on it anywhere.

Re: Thumbelina Anime?
i found this on wikipedia and i want to know if it was right
Toei Animation released a feature-length anime version of the story in 1978, titled Sekai Meisaku Dowa: Oyayubi Hime (World's Famous Children's Stories: The Thumb Princess), with character designs by Osamu Tezuka. An English dubbed version was released in the U.S. by Harmony Gold.

Yeah, that version is called Thumbelina, too. I have it and it still works.
For more of a rememberence, the frog had parents and frog boy liked Thumbelina and then him, the parents, and the whole town wanted the girl to marry him. Frog boy (geeze, I can't remember his name right now) picks about four strawberries I think that will cause Thumbelina to turn into a frog just like him.
She had red shoes that enabled her to run fast, too. There was also a bird that helped out, along with a sugar fairy. I also remember that the Crystal Prince was awfully weak for him and his kingdom to be taken over so easily...
I'm not sure if you'll be able to find it easily. The tape is pretty old to begin with in the U.S.

Ah, wait...I think the Thumbelina version we're getting at is different than the Sekai Meisaku Dowa: Oyayubi Hime. The picture on animenewsnetwork.com is different.
Actually, it was hard for me to find, too. The Thumbelina version we're talking about was distributed by Starmaker Entertainment, Inc. and also Enoki Films USA, Inc.
I've saved you the trouble of searching the net for yourself, so here you go: http://enokifilmsusa.com/library/thumbelinanim.htm
Is this the right one? I had to dig around for my own tape to make sure. I should've done that from the start...lol.
