Hello everyone, I'm very new here and relatively new to anime. I have found some favorites that I was hoping some people might willing to offer suggestions around.
At the top of my list is Ergo Proxy, Hellsing, Bleach, Elfen Lied and Vampire Hunter D.
I've tried searching for something close but none of the resources I have found seem very reliable. Any suggestions?

really of your list i've only watched bleach and elfen lied...
(following bolded words are names of anime)
if you liked the echhi part of elfen lied i'd watch green green tv, but the storyilne types are on the different side of the scale. it is Funny, perverted and love filled.
if you want something like bleach i'd go with Gintama. it's the ultimate spoof anime. though they hold plenty of commercials where ichigo and the main char of Gintama argue. plus it's actiony at times...but that os another off side...
Evangalion is your best choice in next to go... it's actiony, and filled with messages and somewhat depressive at parts...
as well there is Basalisk. though i've only seen the first ep. it's a ninja war between Koga-Iga villages. betrayal and blood fueds make for a good anime.
there is D. Grey man it seems dark but it really isn't... great show though
aswell look into: blood+, jyoh oh sei, death note, Samurai X ( ruroni Kenshin OVA's ), samurai 7
but what i suggested so far is plenty to keep a person busy for atleast a month

I'm up to episode 20 of Death Note now and will definately check out the other ones mentioned. Death Note is very cool to say the least.

Well death note is all caught up to episode 20, I can't wait for the next! I'm also almost about to finish Black Blood Brothers, much better than I had thought it would be.

Heres some goods you might like fullmetal alchemist, Full metal panic(seasons 1-3 espeacily 2 REALLY FUNNY), also I agree with Aizen on gundam X it a VERY good gundam series probilly one of the best

oh yeah i must also recomend Pumpkin Scissors the title may sound bad but it's like aftermath between a mix of WWI and pre WWII. it revolves around the war relief unit and the Secret 9 (group of secret and illegal army units fro, the same country... atleast i think it's called the secret 9 
) it's pre WWII because they still don't have Semi-Auto's mass produced (man i love the good ole M1 carbine *wants to play Day of Defeat*) but they have tanks...

From what you've said about what one's you like already, <b>Death Note</b> would be really good for you I think. Also try out <b>Serial Experiments Lain</b> it's a little weird and some don't like it, but I have a feeling you will, I really enjoyed it. Both of these anime are dark and kinda weird, but wickedly cool!
