Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Anime? (please read & reply)

Post by Roy Hughes »

Is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 or 2k3, and Japanese OVAs) considered anime? I know some styles of drawing and other things relate to anime but I wasn't sure. Could someone help clarify this please? NO mean comments! I WILL NOT REPLY TO YOU IF YOU DO!!!!!

*cough* no *cough*

Then again< I look at AStro Boy, and other classic Anime's, and I start thinking, Maybe? This Causes me to ask, What really defines Anime as Anime? Is it where it comes from, or the style used to create it?

My opinion is that Its anime if it originated in Japan. Otherwise, Its a cartoon, wanting to be anime.
AKA Teen Titans.

So you're saying TMNT is NOT an anime right?

I read somewhere on Wikipedia that a South Korean studio did a lot of the art work on the 2003 version of Ninja Turtles. They usually do anime, so I dunno...does Ninja Turtles count cuz I think Avatar was also done in that studio though I could be wrong.

Technically a lot of things were (somewhat) influenced by japan, and Anime as a whole......it all depends on what you think it is : )

So I can say Ninja Turtles (at least the 2003 version) is SORT of an anime?

If that's what you want to say, sure...in my opinion? it was influenced by Anime somewhat, so yes.
