Or go to the library. ^^;
I'm not really a big fan of fantasy. I think the only fantasy books I ever liked were those in the Old Kingdom series.

My mom used to read my Sister and I "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" when I was really little. Mom loves fantasy, and as a result so do I! xD
I want to write fantasy stories when I grow up. Though, I think I'll aim them at children - because I remember being very bored by the Lord of the Rings when I was a kid.

I don't think you'll get anyone to scan you LotR. It's a trilogy (I so spelt that wrong) so it's incredibly long. Luckily I have the box set.
Go to your nearest library, any decent library will have LotR - because they would have bought the books while the movies were popular, because people were rushing to buy the books then.

I never read Eragon or the Golden Compass, nor did I watch the movies. Are they any good?

Eragon is a good book. From what I've heard, it's the first in a trilogy.

I also want to write fantasy novels. I already have the setting and main character. I've also wrote some short stories using that character and setting. The purpose of the short stories was for me to better understand the character. Now, you may find that statment odd, seeing as I made the character, but I don't see myself as the creator of the character. Rather, I see the character as a person that wants me to tell his story.

He's an elf in case you happened to be wondering.

I changed my mind I don't want the LotR books, even thought I can't get them here in South Africa.
I started writing some of my storys Evelata Warriors, Mystic Elemental Necklace, ZeianStar.

I enjoy reading books more than watching movies anyway, more substance.

I hope you like it. It's one of my favorite books/movie. I've just finished reading the last book of the serie, it's amazing! 8D
Books and mangas always have more information than movies/animes.
