Guys if you are saying "yes" or "no" make sure you state your reasons. Otherwise your vote becomes almost inadmissible.

I have a question about moderating here: Mods can lock topics, but can they delete them?

1. Moderators must be at least 13 years old.

2. Moderating takes time and effort. It's not fun and games.

3. Moderators have less freedom in posting, as they must be extra kind and respectful to people in order to set good examples, even when dealing with jerks and stupid people.

4. Moderators cannot delete threads or posts. Only I can do that.
So, they cannot delete topics ;).

In effect moderators can delete topics. We can move threads to a location called "Questionable Threads" where no other users can go. They're deleted from the public forums. Webmaster looks at anything in there and chooses whether or not to delete it. Most times he does; the system we have works as a safety net.

Someone had mentioned the "hidden" threads that only the mods and the webmaster had access to; I suppose that's what I had on my mind when I asked. Thanks for answering.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while...I had to have surgery and I've mostly been lying around doing make up homework. Yay. Well, studies first, as they say.

You have my vote. I liked your post, brief, but to the point, and you seem to have a good grasp of what moderating involves. I wouln't brag on, so well done. :)
