Words, phrases or anything else wanted? Ask here!

It's not nearly as complex as English, but as usual we find ways to screw it up.

Foreign names get translated into Japanese by pronunciation, so it usually sounds very similar to the original word.

Rachel becomes Reicheru (レーチェル).

It takes but one man to breed a war, for those who do not have swords may still die upon them.

Well, I'm not actually 100% sure on this. But after thinking about the phrase for a while, it also depends on the context. If it's in the sense of, "I did everything (tried my upmost, best, etc) for you", then it'd be something like this:

あなたのために一生懸命尽くしてた。
Anata no tame ni isshoukenmei tsukushite'ta.

But if it's like, "I did it all (actions, ie, making smoothies/ buying socks/ killing enemies) for you", then it'd be:

あなたのために何でもやった。
Anata no tame ni nandemo yatta.

Both are informal. And you can replace "anata" in both with the person's name, or any other form of the word "you". Etc. :)

"How are you?" = the standard "O-genki desu ka?" (お元気ですか?)

"Emo" would just be "emo" in Japanese... (イーモ)
Except romanized, it would be written "iimo".

Are you smart?
Rikou desu ka?
利口ですか?

Do you like? (I take it this is like, "Do you like it?")
Suki desu ka?
好きですか?

"Him" and "her" are, respectively, "kare" (彼) and "kanojo" (彼女).
Although, technically, "kare" and "kanojo" are "he" and "she".
The words only morph into "him" and "her" when placed in a sentence where they're followed by particles, etc.

And Edgar becomes "Edogaa" (エドガー).
