Haiku/Haikai

It's not nearly as complex as English, but as usual we find ways to screw it up.

Haiku/Haikai

Post by Yuki~ »

Has anyone ever written an Haiku?? I have last week
And i think its pretty interesting....
Well, the Haiku i had to write, it was like ''5/7/5''...silabes(??)...
I wrote this:

Fureai de ippai tomodachi tsukuritai
(sorry, this computer doesn't accept the japanese writing system! =P So, i cant write in hiragana here... XP)
But the 5/7/5 thing is=
Fu-re-a-i-de --> 5
I-p-pa-i to-mo-da-chi--> 8 (mine had 8 instead of 7! XD)
Tsu-ku-ri-ta-i--> 5

It looks really hard on your first time, but when you do it once, you see that it's not that difficult.
But for me, it was really hard to come any idea.... XD

No, I believe your second line made 7 syllables if you put 'Ip' together. Two letters make a sort of hiccup sound, so it's not really 8 that you think it is.

I've written haikus and tankas (5-7-5-7-7) in English, but I've never attempted to do it in Japanese (strangely).

I'll just make a quick haiku right now:

優しい木
九月の水練
暗い空

Yasashii ki
Kugatsu no suiren
Kurai sora

Gentle trees
September waterlily
Dark sky
Blue like. Like blue.

Silently the owl flies....
Swiftly threw the night sky,
Happy to be alive
