A suggestion, Parent's Guide to Anime

Post by Crystalbear »

So yeah, I was just wondering about something.

My suggestion is.... Will there one day be the option of people able to submit "Parent's Guide to Anime" or something. Basically, some parents love anime.. and may want to introduce their children to some anime. Sometimes they need aid to find anime suitable for their children's age.

I been to an anime site, no longer to be updated ever again, which had this. And even though I am 14, I was imprssed. Because it's saddening to see some young minds watching something, say like Hellsing, that their parents thought would be 'safe'.

Parents guides can 'rate' anime, and explain what to look out for.. and what to discuss about before deciding if their children can watch it. Some of the subjects they may be dicussed could be the fact if the anime has profanity, sexual concepts, gender roles, raceism(if), religon and politics.

Of course, this sort of thing can be added to anime profiles. But the majorly of profiles I see on the site, are mostly plot summaries. Sometimes plots cannot tell parents what to look out for.

Course that is just a suggestion.

There's a problem with that, though...some parents tend to be over-rawr about such things. If they see something bad in one anime, they think they're all like that. :heh: What we need to do is get people that know what to look out for.

You're right. But luckily not all parents are like that. :P

But the same thing would happened to some parents, if they watched one anime... So guide or not, some parents will always be like that. :/

its a fact that all parents are complete morons. just in different ways. i agree with this Parental Guide effort. smart suggestion. question is, will Ken be writing the reviews? or will the users? or will Ken only update the reviews all ready here, y'know, age ratings and any alerts a show may need? it all requires consideration.

I meant to say that I forgotten to type something. :P

But I am just saying, that I don't expect Ken to go reveiwing all the anime that has a profile on this site, just to make a parent's guide. I would suggest that visitors do that.

That sounds good, but do you mean regular visitors, like us on the forums? If you let just anyone mess with it...well, people are idiots. :heh: Some of them might put terrible things on an anime that aren't true, just because they don't like it or something.

That's what I mean, people who are basically not idiots.

Trying to think of a solution for that.... I'm guessing some sort of proof would be needed, or someone could show their 'reveiw' on the forums first...

Hmm.. that did crossed my mind before actually, but I couldn't really think of a solution.

i thought about it over night. the closest think i came up with is getting its official ERSB, or what ever it is, that does the age guide rating on the DVD's and the like. then it would be oficially be recognised

yes and no. i mean, everything that gets legitmatly shown on TV, or sold in stores, has been through some kinda authority, which tells us

1) Who the series can be sold to/be viewed by
2) any drugs, sex, violence, foul language, and any other such item that impedes its age rating

stuffs like that

So...we don't really need this rating system thing...though a Parent's Guide still sounds good.

we need it, in a sense. but, thats only for the parents. and i dont think there are many parents who come to this site. i guess it could still be implemented for the regulars here. y'know, they wanna find new anime and they aren't sure what it incorporates.
