Basic synopsis?
Can someone please give me a quick summary/rundown of what happened in ALL THE NARUTO EPISODES BEFORE SHIPPUDEN?
Like, what arcs were there, what central events happened, etc.

here are some questions i think you'd ask.
Why did Naruto left konoha?
~ He had to train with Jiraiya.
Why Sasuke left Konoha?
~ To gain power from the teachings of Orochimaru because he wants to avenge his clan's death.
Why did Tsunade became Hokage?
~ When Sarutobi died, the supposed-to-be hokage is Jiraiya but he refused it so he suggested his ex-teammate Tsunade.
Why Naruto has a kyuubi?
~ the 4th hokage, naruto's father, sealed it inside him when he was a baby thinking that it would be a powerful weapon to protect the country.

See, I would do those things, but I'm lacking in time (and am busy) and would really like to just jump back into naruto and start with shippuden. Hence, why I'm asking here on AA.

Naruto is born and within him is sealed the Kyubi..yada yada yada...Naruto passes school and joins team kakaashi,tthey have what seems to be a C ranked mission (turns out to be an A) and in the end they kill some girly looking guy and a guy with a big sword...
then the Chuunin exams come up after that, they have some long ass tournament where they introduce many other characters like Orochimaru. yada yada yada Sasuke, Naruto get their assses kicked leaving Sakura to be left out and feeling weak.
they have a behind the scene tourny where sasuke, Naruto, Gaara, Shino, and the other two sand siblings pass, that Hyuuga guy manage to get through. but before that there a brief training time. the tournament is halted by a double attack by the sound and the sand villages. Naruto defeats Gaara, Orochimaru beats the aged third, and Konoha survives, although damaged.
Naruyo and Jiraiya train while looking for the next hokage, where Tsunade ends up being persuaded...yada yada yada...sasuke leaves...and 200 episodes of fillers ^_^
