JoJo's Bizzare Adventure

Post by Gyro Zeppeli »

Since most of the threads in this section are about series that suck, I thought I'd create a thread about an awesome one.

Discuss anything about JJBA or Steel Ball Run here. If you haven't read this series yet, read it now

I've been trying to figure this out...

It's the scene after the Zucchero fight, when Mista pierces his eyelid with a fishing hook:

I don't get the joke. :P

I'm not quite sure what it's a nod to, but I got a laugh out of its randomness

Haha, I like that about Araki's humor. It comes out of nowhere and sneak attacks you.

This made me laugh:

LOL, that was pretty good too.

But Joseph's comedy moments are the best

You mean young Joseph, or Indiana Jones Joseph?

He's had had some funny moments in both. Though he was funnier in Part 3 as the quirky old guy who thinks he's still in his 20s

^^ I agree. What makes it funny is he and Polnareff tend to be the butt of the jokes in Part 3. And the ways Jotaro outclasses him in badass-ery are entertaining.

Well, that one time it was Joseph and Avdol

Are you talking about the scene where Abdul looked like he was getting friendly with Joseph? In the Mariah chapters? Because that was one of the top 5 funniest scenes in the whole series. :heh: The best part was when some random kids popped out of nowhere and stared at them.

I personally thought the funniest part of that was when they kept running into the old lady while looking for Mariah

I'm not sure. Karin Rengu said she was going to start it, but she hasn't gotten back to me on it yet.

And it's a damn shame, because JJBA is far better than any of the series most people read on this forum. Everyone pretty much reads mostly Naruto and Bleach; and if they're girls they read Vampire Knight as well.

Hehe.. I completely forgot about that.

I remember Araki mentioning in one of his interviews that one of the reasons why he didn't release JoJo in the US is because he thinks North Americans are too shallow to appreciate its uniqueness (I don't necessarily agree with this). The other reason is obviously the rock references. What's odd is, in Japan it's usually ranked #2 or #3 in best-rated manga lists.

I don't agree with Araki on that either. It may not become as popular as Naruto or Bleach (because, let's face it, Americans ARE drawn to mediocrity. Big Brother proved this), but it could definitely be a popular cult series, especially among older audiences (people who played the JJBA Capcom games or have watched Fist of the Star would definitely like it)

That PSX Capcom game was the [censored]. It's what introduced me to JoJo. And imo, the series already has a pretty large cult following.

Not really that large outside of Japan and #chan boards (and affilliated forums such as Naruto Forums OBD section). Series like Haruhi Suzumiya (God, that series is a piece of [censored]) or TTGL (ok, but hella overrated in terms of story, action, and GAR) have much larger ones from what I gather. Shame, because Joseph's left nut has more awesomeness than both of those series combined.

Lmao at that last sentence. Joseph Joestar is what Chuck Norris wants to be when he grows up.
