SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) -- North Korea has launched a long-range rocket, U.S. and South Korean officials confirmed to CNN on Sunday.
The payload of the rocket remains unclear. North Korea has said the rocket was to carry a satellite into space, but the United States, South Korea and other nations fear it could be a missile with a warhead attached.
A senior Obama administration official in Washington confirmed that the rocked did clear Japan.
The rocket -- launched at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday (10:30 p.m. ET Saturday) -- was a "provocative act in violation" of U.N. Security Council resolution on North Korea's weapons program, said Fred Lash, a State Department spokesman, told reporters
Japan has requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Council

Yea they've launched their first missile.
I've been reading the news about this almost every day since they announced they'd be launching one. And I've read a few things:
1) That the first missile would be a test so that they didn't blow up the so called communication satellite.
2) That intelligence reports and spy plane photos showed what is believed to be multiple missiles at the lunch site.
But either way they both imply that their is more than 1 launch. I'll still be watching the news just in case there is more to come.

This is 1 more reason why the UN is useless and completely incompetent. In 2006 there was a UN security resolution that "banned" north korea from doing anything involving ballistic missiles.
And yet they sat back and did nothing while north korea was allowed to launch the teapodong-2 long range ballistic missile. and are yet again dragging their asses about how to punish them for this launch.

All they ever do is talk, and it should have sank i by now that talking with north korea don't accomplish anything.

x_x Wow. Hopefully it isn't a warhead.
Decisions to decisions are made and not bought, but I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot. I guess not.

This isn't the first time that they did this. I remember this happening back a few years ago. Missiles landed in the sea of Japan or something.

See, If Bush was in office still, I bet America woulda sent a nuke onto them.
But Noooooo
We have to have Mr Obama.
-.-;
The UN though, really has a lot to think about, They have to be careful not to be the actual Instigators in WWIII. Thats what they want to AVOID, and they have to take tender care to make sure they do that.

They should just add Kim Jong Il onto their myspace page, and maybe send him a message or two, invite him to a BBQ and all should be well.

wel if we're gonna make friends, We could just have me challenge him to a CS:S 1v1 scrim.Honorable way of figuring it all out.
Then again.. that'd mean the world putting its faith in my CS;S skills.
