the girl was chinese, though, that's why some japanese took offense to the movie
Since when does something have to make sense to be logical?

I want to own the DVD as soon as it comes out. Zhang Ziyi is beautiful. I have read the book twice, and I just about died when I seen the trailer on TV one day. The book is good. I hope the movie matches.
Oh how I love you.

Yeah, you were right about me, but can I get myself out from underneath this guilt that will crush me? in the choir, I saw our sad Messiah he was bored and tired of my laments
He said, "I died for you one time, but never again"

the book was amazing. the movie looks good, but im slightly dissappointed by the choice of chinese actresses for japanese roles.
geisha were artisans, being masterful and graceful dancers and shamisen players. of course, geisha were to entertain men. and in that sense, they were considered high class prostitutes. by doing some research and reading the novel, the role of the geisha in the early to mid 20th centruy japan is masterfully learned. im seeing the movie on fri.

re: Memors of Geshia
its like really long though and there were some parts i thought was boring
re: Memors of Geshia
I saw the film. I was impressed. It didnt touch on all the book though. Furthermore, the characters werent as complex as they were in the novel; Sayuri/Chiyo is innocent, Hatsumomo is evil, Mameha is kind, Pumpkin is deceitful, Chairman is wise, yada yada. The books portrayal is far more complex. A good movie.
