re: ~Great books~
I just did some more searching on the net and yes The Harsh Cry of the Heron and another book (forgot the name) is the two books I'm talking about. But they are not part of the trilogy though. Go to Lian Hearn's site and check out the news section and you'll see some further details, seems like the book should be out by now, sadly I live in Sweden and will have to wait like a year (lol) for the book.

Hokkaido Highway Blues - Will Ferguson
A very funny book on one man's hitching experience in Japan. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with an interest in travel writing, Japan or someone who just wants a laugh.

About Face... really anything by shakespeare especially the Merchant of Venice and the taming of the Shrew. The adventures of the blue advenger. I know that sounds like a comic but its actally a novel, where a normal kid who changes his name to The Blue Advenger explores Fate V.S Free Will. A pretty good read I must say. I also must recommend the battle royale novel. I don't even have to speak about how awesome it is, its name alone should speak for itself.

i absolutely love anything by J.D Salinger, especially Zooey and Franny but have read nearly all his works, and love them all. but Spiral is a pretty good book to, by Koji Suzuki
‘if she’s determined to have a nervous breakdown, the least we can do is see that she doesn’t have it in peace’ Zooey

Ooh...I love Orwell. Animal Farm is a concise yet powerful novel.
If you like Orwell, be sure to read 1984, his most critically acclaimed book, and rightly so.
I'm currently into psychological/philosophical reading. I'd reccommend Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. I read it and it was awesome.
I'm currently reading a novel called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, by Mark Haddon. Another awesome book, yet I'm not finished with it yet.

re: ~Great books~
Animal Farm and 1984 are brilliant, but I find it impossible to enjoy 1984 (I've read it three or four times) because it is so bleak and depressing. Reading it is kind of like, "watching a boot stamp on a human face-- for ever"
I had to study The Curious Incident... last year, and to be honest, whilst it is mildly entertaining, it sucks.
I'm currently reading Allende's newest novel: Ines of My Soul.
It's pretty good.
As a side note, she is actually the daughter of Salvador Allende, the former Chilean president.
