Admitting it

Post by Morphea »

Okay, I'll come clean here...I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO USE MY YU-GI-OH CARDS.
What do the stars mean?
Are the holographic ones cooler thatn the normal ones?
Without Yugi and Kaiba blurting out every aspect of the card, I am completely hopeless.

We all had to begin sometime.

The stars show the cards level. They show the overal effectiveness of a card. Higher level cards however need you to sacrifice lower level monsters in play to put the higher one in play

If a card has 1-4 stars, it can be placed on the field without tributes needed.
5-6 stars require you to tribute one monster.
7+ stars require you to tribute 2 monsters.

If you want, you could try this interactive flash demo
http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/y ... fault.aspx

Holocards, that is to say, foils, look cool, and often sell for more money, but gameplaywise they are the same as their non foil equalivalent.

If you plan on playing the real card game, I wouldn't rely on the show's rules as Duel Monsters is slightly different to the Yugioh TCG.

Okay.
1 What is the point of this game?
2 How do you win?
3 Where can I even use them?
4 Are there any rules?
5 if so, where can I get a break the rules card?
6 What reatailer still sells them?
7 And might possibly buy some from me?
I like Shaman King.

1. The point of the game is to defeat your opponent
2. You can win by reducing your opponent's life points to 0, by forcing him/her to draw more cards than they have left, or by card effect like Destiny Board or Exodia the Forbidden One
3. Cards can be used anywhere indicated in the rules.
4. There are rules. Official rule book can be downloaded at http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/y ... fault.aspx
The saem rule book also comes with deck sets.
5. Any card can break the core rules. The golden rule is if a card contradicts the card rules, the card takes effect (example, normally you're allowed one battle phase. If you play a card that allows a second battle phase, you can use your second battle phase.)
6. Most toy shops, comic shops and some video game stores.
7 if you're willing to sell, simplist place is ebay.

Aww...I didn't know there were rules. I hope they aren't worth TOO much...all I ever do with them is throw them at cars and see if they work. So far I have been disapointed. I wanted to see them blow up. But no...they don't.
8. What is a battle phase?
9. Is it cheating if I use a fork to throw the cards at people?
10. What are the wrist thingies for?
11.Can you die playing this game?
12. How can I find someone willing to let me throw the cards at them with a fork?
13. If I don't get the rules is it cheating if I just give the cards to someone who does then force them too use them under my name?
14. Why can't I ever find the cards they show in the TV show?
I like Shaman King.

You can't use forks. No one's died during a game because no one is that big a sore loser. The Battle phase is when in the turn monsters fight it out. The wrist thingies, or duel discs serve no purpose in real life and the game has different rules in the tv show to the real thing.

Pure awesomeness :) Symos answerd these already, but I'd like to mention that you can buy those Duel Disc things. They dont do anything good like off the show (which would have been awesome if they were real)its more of a novelty thing.

I'd buy a hologram projecting disc, but they look expensive.
