I think anyone that has seen the show so far or loves Gaara would know that. Its explained under the attack of Konoha and when Naruto fights Gaara and Gaara gets flashbacks. I still find it extremely stupid to have a tattoo on your forehead.

gaara's cool but i don't think he should be concidered cute.

I agree with you, he's pretty cool, but he isn't what I call cute exactly. Anyway, something really bad happened to him when he was little, I think the sand's his mother, actually. That's what my big brother says. I don't know for sure though. I know a lot of people think Gaara's which he sort of is, sort of.
