it doesnt matter if the show is for kids
cuz in japan children are already exposed to all that
with nudity and sexual content not censored on anything
and even so it isnt for the very young its for teens

-HAKU DIED...LEAVE HIM BE !! HE DOESN'T DO ANYTHING LATER ON IN THE SERIES...AND NEITHER DOES ZABUZA!!

Actually, both Zabuza and Haku are shown later on 
In Kimimaru's flashback lol. Oh...I wish Orichimaru could use Edo Tenso and revive them ^_^

Anyways, to cover this basically, he is portrayed as a bishounen. It is a common re-occuring character in anime genre to have boys look like girl and vice versa...Maybe that is equivalent to the metrosexual? Hmmm...
