this, the actual Japanese character guidebook for YGO. It states Kaiba's age as "2nd year high school student", which, like I said before, could only be 14-16 years old. I doubt Seto is so stupid he continued to flunk, making him 18 somehow.

maybe he just didn't start school at an ordinary age and went years later. He was an orphan after all. He might had not go to school before he was adopted.
