dude....its because Ed doesn't see Winry as a girlfriend and just a friend...remember Ed was attracted to Rose? dumby....anyway...yes...we know Winry loves Ed...but Ed doesn't love Winry...that does not mean he is gay.

Actually, there are a few clues in the manga that can lead one to believe that Ed does see Winry as a girlfriend but doesn't want to admit it.
