Yea, I haven't seen the acutal episodes but when I found out Kenshin died I flipped out and looked into it and that's what I found. I thought it was so awesome that his scar disappeared! But I cried a lot

i still don't know the true reason but my father told me because kenshin fights alot and become so tired.

in the file of Kenji here in absoluteanime.com, at the bottom says that there are three possible reasons
1. Syphilis (sexually transfered desease)
2. leprosy (i don't know this)
3. the blood of the people kenshin killed went inside his wounds...

that's all...

Leprosy is a skin disease where you get rashes etc. and it is very contagious but Keshin died of a blood disease unknown. Watsuki's said it in some interviews about it.

i thought i was going to cry. he didn't look like himself that and the fact that he made it back to Kaoru and died was the sadest part for me.. and how Sanosuke found him. *cries*

I didn't see Sano find him but I saw how sick he looked and how Kaoru, even though she was sick, went running to him!!

Sano was like... O.o Kenshin? WTF happened to you? That was like his expression and one of great concern. That's was even sadder. T_T

although the disease was made up I would have to say it was, tuberculosis due to the fact that it was a very common disease that was not treatable back then.
