Anywho, I found out an interesting fact in my bio class today. here I'll just type out excatly what it says in my notes that my teacher typed out for our class...
Homosexuality:
a. Is seen in ALL animal species
b. Female homosexuality is NOT understood, but male homosexuality is. (What my teacher was trying to say, is that genetically, for males, it is possible for them to be homosexual at birth because of extra chromosomes from the mother. It is not a lifestyle in half the cases, but on the other hand for females it is a lifestyle. It has not been genetically proven yet for females.)
c. Homosexuality is presently hypothesized to be 50% genetic (so some is by lifestyle or enviroment)
d. Research from the 1990's has shown:
1) it thought to be carried by the mothers genes
2)it is common in men if their maternal uncle(s) are homosexual
3)it is common among monozygotic twins (50%)
4) it is also seen in men who have 4-5 older brothers
5) 90% of homosexuals are male(I'm not sure on that last statistic)
I thought alot of this was interesting especially the whole genetics concept. I kind of agree with it. It's interesting how it differs between males and females though. I was not too happy though with my teacher's comment on bisexuals which was, that they are homosexuals living a heterosexual life. I did not agree with that comment at all.
