And putting it directly into play's even more expensive. It's just that my Gatherer searches are turning up all sorts of costs and triggers that make pinning down a suitable search cost difficult (I was figuring on a search-to-hand for a Hero card) And I already figured on just tapping for a draw-and-discard; I originally wanted just a draw, but the costs for a simple draw vary wildly also. I could also use a Scry in addition or in place of one of those abilities.

Scry? If that is a Magic term, I guess my knowledge of Magic the Gathering has finally become lacking. I do know what the actual definition of the word scry is.

I think the reason for the variation is because many of the sets of Magic cards are based on books, and how difficult it is for someone to predict the future, have some form of foresight, or preceive people and objects across worlds, planes, etc.

I don't know what to say about a cost. I would say, take all the ideas you find as the closest/best, and pick one at random.

Scry "X" means looking at the top "X" cards of your library ("X" being the number dictated on the card) and then deciding which you want on top and which you want at the bottom of the libray. The distribution and order is yours to decide.

So a "Scry 3" means "Look at the top 3 cards of your library. Put any number of them on the bottom of your library and the rest on top in any order."

Again, when it comes to Hitomi, card abilities suit her because of affinity with the Tarot, and Scry would be quite fitting for her.

Sounds fitting. I don't know how good she is at prediction, so I don't have any ideas that could help you pin down a cost, sorry.

I have to say that I'm actually having a lot of fun trying to create cards based on anime. My anime set is building gradually, and the results I've been getting so far have been fascinating to say the least.

So now I'll make a new offer. If you think someone, something, or someplace could find a home in a Magic deck, let me know about it. I can try to develop a card based on what you submit. Details aren't necessary if you can't find them.

So far, the focus has been mostly on creatures, because they are the easiest to make.

What kinds of things could we make as enchantments, instants, sorceries, and lands? What kinds of events within an anime would qualify as something like those?

I had originally created a multicolor Instant which I called "Dead Drunk Shooting" based on episode 10 of Trigun, in which Vash unintentionally shoots all bottles in a contest...because he got drunk last night (he really wanted to miss one or two so as not to stand out). It's a relatively simple 1 damage to all creatures of target opponent, but I thought the premise behind it was pretty funny.

As I write, I thought about an idea for an enchantment based on a scene where a character endured pain or humiliation in order to get better. I was thinking about Genkai's training regimen from Yu Yu Hakusho but (since it already has a TCG), I might want to look for an analogue elsewhere.

I just came up with a couple amusing instants.

"Lousy Lunch", which taps a creature for two turns (inspired by incompetent cooks in various anime), and "No Sense of Direction" (inspired by Ryoga of Ranma ½), which taps a creature and a land.

Well, there is Soemon Obiichi from Saber Marionette J. His training regimen was demanding, since it was his way, or the high way. If someone missed one day of teaching, it took three days to make up that one day of training.

Nice idea, and good premise. Too bad pictures of him are rare, as are quotes.

I had also thought of an enchantment I'd like to call "Stubborn Sidekick". After some thining, I decided to make it simple also: "Enchanted creature becomes a Hero and gains 'bands with other Heroes'." The idea came from Meow from Tsukikage Ran, who keeps running by chance into Ran and chipping in.

I've got nothing on Soemon. A few scattered pictures, but nothing useful.

Banding has disappeared from Magic, and out of all the people I know who play Magic, I am the only one who remembers the rules about banding.

Interesting ideas. What about an enchantment that represents a genre, or certain common scene types in anime?

Here is a funny idea.
Name: Great Will of the Marcocosms Reset
Type: Sorcery
Effect: All players shuffle their hands, and everything in play back into their decks, and reset all players' life totals to 20. Remove this card from the game after use.

I'll come up with something similar for "Stubborn Sidekick" then. I still like the idea. I just need to apply it another way.

The Reset...reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh's Fiber Jar, which basically resets everything but Life totals. Perhaps if we removed the Life reset bit, the card actually becomes worth using...if we set the price high enough, say 5WRUGB (that is, 10 mana with at least one of each color). Oh, and one more condition: it can only be played if you have Threshold.

Banding is actually a complex set of rules.

You could have a creature with banding "join" with another creature when attacking. The controller of the attacking "group" decides where the damage dealt to the group goes, instead of the controller of the blockers. Ablities; flying, shadow, landwalk, and blocking restrictions are negated unless all the creatures in the "group" have those abilities. First strike, and trample aren't negated, and the damage from the creature(s) with trample is applied to blockers last. The group counts as one creature, except for, destroy/bury target creature.
When a creature with banding blocks, all same restrictions as attacking apply. Damage dealt to blocker "group" is distributed by the controller of the blockers, instead of the controller of the attackers.

Most people didn't quite comprehend that ability, so it just disappeared from circulation. You can still use banding, but you may see why the ability isn't around anymore.

I think I've made a simple solution. Instead of banding, I'll give it two tap abilities which basically bolster an attacking or blocking creature in its act.

I'm also looking for two kinds of characters: (1) a charcter noted for being cool under fire and (2) a crazy driver.

Define cool under fire please. Do you mean able to deal with a hazardous situation calmly, or able to keep a cool head while being attacked, or what?

As for a crazy driver, maybe Natsumi Tsujimoto from You're Under Arrest, Rally Vincent from Gunsmith Cats, or Yu Himehagi from Geobreeders.

Both could apply to the situation. It basically means that, despite being in a dangerous and/or time-constrained situation, the person is able to come through in a smooth and/or organized manner (other examples include trying to disarm bombs, navigating traps, etc). Finding a fairly prominent character with that kind of reputation is a little tricky for me to find.

I'll think about the drivers. Rally Vincent probably won't work. She's not crazy: just darn good. I thought of the idea when I recalled Misato (from NGE)'s reputation, but we don't see enough of it.

As for a character that can stay cool under pressure, all I could think of is Walter C. Dollneaz from Hellsing. He is only a background character. Maybe Heero Yuy, and Trowa Barton from Gundam Wing.
