he does have 3 guns the one that is silver
the one built into his arm
and the big gun ( a combo of the silver gun and his arm)

I just go with the literal meaning of three guns. It's true he has them, and thats proof enough for me as to why it's named that. Though it would be interesting if it had some conotive meaning other than that.
