I don't know what you're talking about in your second post. Does it somehow involve Japan? Or was it just something you read in a book written in English? We don't often (if ever) call a teacher "master" here in America, but it sounds like something that might be used in Europe (ie. the UK), since they use terms like "headmaster" for the leader of the school, etc.
