Well, as for the ending (which I have on DVD), perhaps it might help if I leave this final Prophetic Vision which you might not have seen or heard about:
It's not much, but perhaps with this you can get a feel for how Satoshi Kon intended to air the series.

SpoilerShowIt was awesome when Keiichi shattered the fake reality with that song playing then Maniwa told why Lil Slugger exisited and I agree it was sad when Tsukiko was holding her dead puppy and let go of her gulit then Lil Slugger said "Good Bye" then we see 2 years later.
Tsukiko did look worthy of love at the end.
