Absolute Anime

I thought it was good, but I did not approve of the usage of mecha in the series. If there is mecha in a series, it has to be in a realistic setting, seeing mechs in medievel times does not sit well with me. The limited tunnel vision the mechs have makes me wonder how they can be useful in combat at all. I think I'd like the Escaflowne movie better (Since it has no medievel mecha) but I have yet to watch it.

You dont much aprove of anything do you? your very specific when dealing with your choices maybe should quit while your ahead..Jay told me you do not like Gundam Seed? Its true that they use recycled anime sometimes but its still one of the best series around. The mecha desighns alone are worth watching the entire series Destiny was not as good as seed but yeah. Is that all you ever watch is mecha anime?

My high standards only apply to mecha anime, with other types of anime, I am much more lenient. I just split my anime into two categories: Mecha, and Everything else. In the Everything else category, I watch everything with an open mind, while in the Mecha Category, I am overly anal and nitpicky about tiny details that no one in their right mind would care about.

The reason I dislike Gundam Seed is because after watching so many different mecha series, a show has to reach my specific requirements for me to enjoy it, hence the fact that I absolutely detest Evangelion and Gundam Seed Destiny (Please not that this is Seed Destiny I am talking about. While I didn't really like Gundam Seed, it is far superior to Seed Destiny, which really dropped the ball after the first 8 episodes. A shame really, considering that those episodes were fantastic. Plus you got a whopping total of 6 recap episodes, and recycled animation was just too frequent in the latter half of the show, unacceptable for a series that has a budget twice that of a typical anime series).

Mecha anime is, in a way, a part of my culture, just about every old school fan who has lived in the Philippines loves mecha anime, because, well, Mecha anime was the first anime to hit our shores, back in the 70s. Even my Parents and many of my teachers used to watch mecha anime (*cough* Mazinger Z *chough* Choudenji Robo Voltes V *cough* UFO Robo Grendizer *cough* Getter Robo *cough* Daiku Maru Gaiking *cough* etc...).

I do watch other stuff as well, Eden's Bowy is one of my favorite series, while I also liked other animes such as Ruroni Kenshin, Gatekeepers, Gensomaden Saiyuki, Shadow Skill, and Slam Dunk just to name a few. Currently I am watching Tsukiyumi: Moon Phase, and I am enjoying it a great deal.

I love the series, though I think that the movie was only good for the music. I typically thought that the series started out slow. But hey that's just an old fart's opinion...

I think the use of mecha in a medievil setting is unique and a good idea. I mean, they're always in a futuristic setting and things and there were mecha in the Escaflowne movie too, they just changed some of the design a bit. And no one has answered my question. Does anyone out there like Dilandau and his Dragon Slayers? o.O

Escaflowne the movie is realy dark

I liked the series. Though I wasn't able to see the end of it yet...after how many years since I first started watching. Which was, oh...I think almost 7 years now. Ack...feel old (no offense to those who are maturer than me).

I have a few of the DVDs: 1-4 and 7 I believe (counting out the Unlimited Movie set). I haven't been able to continue with it anymore since I keep spending my money on manga books. lol. In that manga spending, I've gotten the manga version of Esca Flowne. It's quite different than the anime...an alternate general story format, but I enjoyed it.

As for the answer to your question...hm...can't say I'm much of a liker towards the Dragon Slayers and Dilandau himself. Sorry.

i own Escaflowne The Movie and it so great. i like it so much. in fact i got a collecters box set and it came with 3 discs. one is the movie, second is special features, and third is the movies soundtrack. its amazing.
