NO KIDDING! REALLY? GEE, I HAD NO IDEA!
I got that the moment the show aired. Okay, well, the moment I saw Lust and Gluttony, and later Envy. I pretty much figured... yeah, there's gonna be seven.
There are various organizations of the Seven Deadly Sins, the most common being as you see in Fullmetal Alchemist, and also in Dante Alighieri's
The Divine Comedy - the levels of Purgatory are for each sin that is keeping them from reaching Heaven.
Lust
Gluttony
Greed
Sloth
Wrath
Envy
Pride
The only one that hasn't been certain for you folks yet is who Pride is. But be sure, he's coming.
Keep note as to who named after the author of the Divine Comedy. This might be important somehow.
Also... you already know who Pride is. You just don't know you know.
But yeah, do everyone a favor and keep up... this all has been stated many times over (often by me).

u did not know that they were the freakin seven sins! omg there's a lot of ppl who know that they r! u can ask ur parents or look in the dictionary!!! next time go into someones forum and ask!!! god!

Yep... the Dante who wrote the Divine Comedy was a guy. In FMA, it's a woman.
And Harrison. I'm 20 years old. Out of high school. I'm hoping this does not go for you, because you seriously need a better education if you don't know that the phrase "shut up" consists of two words.

do you want me to tell you the punishment of those sins in hell?
Lust: you will be burned to death
Envy: you will be frozen to death
Pride: you will be tortured using an ancient well...torturing device called "the wheel"
Gluttony: you will be forced to eat raw snakes, frogs, locusts, anything gross.
Sloth: you will be thrown into a pit of snakes.
Wrath: you will be dismembered alive
Greed: you will be boiled alive
in the manga, in order to defeat the homonculi, they have to die in the same way the sins were punished, for example, Roy is fighting Lust, so Roy will be able to defeat Lust, he has to burn her up uncontrollably until she dies.*note: that is what happened to Lust in the manga*
