Absolute Anime

Alright. There are two sides of me right now. The optimistic side of me says that Shinji and Asuka loved each other, however screwed up their relationship was. This is suggested many many times over.

The other part of me, the part that watched End of Evangelion, tells me that Asuka really does'nt love him, and he does'nt love her, but instead wants someone, anyone, to love.

I like to think that after the end of the world, and they were together, they'd stay together. This is reinforced by the Eva cards, that said Shinji strangled Asuka to make sure that it's reality, not out of hate.

I am admittidly a romantic, and my heart broke while watching Asuka reject Shinji in Instrumentality. I've felt this way only once before, and that was during Vanilla Sky. No, I'm not gay. Perhaps the awnser is obvious, and I'm just hoping that they did love each other, but I want to know what the closest thing to the truth is. I did find solice in the fan fiction for Evangelion called Eva-r, but I want to know what the seires suggests.

I honestly think Asuka loves him, but hates herself for loving him, and feels contempt for him. He loves her, as is suggested by the alternate reality shown in the last episode of Evangelion, where they are bickering childhood friends, who stick up for each other.

Maybe Asuka was in love with Shinji during the first 24 episodes, but after seeing "The End Of" I think she don't love him at all. She caress Shinji at the very end of the movie only because she don't want to die...

I can see people thinking that, untill you discover the title of the song is in german. That kinda gives it away....

But I knew the title was german...I can speak it a bit too...But when I read in the lyric

I was thinking that I'm so baka...

i belive that asuka loves shinji, but her pride wount let her admit. like in the quote of the movie 'EOE' during shinji's flashbacks when she said " why dont you try doing it? besides, i want to see you try too. i'll just watch from here." at the moment it seems like a warning to shinji until she ends the sentence with "if i cant have you all to myself, then i don't need you!". now this quote is really hard to understand, but what i think is she likes him but can only express it with anger and the last line of the sentence is what she let slip out.

Yes I do think Asuka loved Shinji but remember Asuka is strong and a bit to full of pride and couldn't let herself fall in love out of fear she would just get hurt.

its confusing. like when they were alone in the home and Asuka asked Shinji if he had ever kissed b4, and when he said no she decided to kiss him. i know she was bored, but i think she liked him at that time and was trying to see if she really loved him. i mean they say a single kiss can tell all.(Or something like that.) or she might have just done it to mess with him. either way it was hilarious cuz Shinji began to suffocate.

Personally I'm completely unsatisfied with the unclarity(not a word). In any case for most of the series I would get the feeling there is something there. However, during the last episodes and EoE such a thought is nearly relinquished.

I dont think Asuka loved much of anyone, because if you noticed she didnt love herself. Her parents didnt love her nor her stepmother. But I think Asuka felt love from her friend at school. (I forgot her name again!!). Its more like a 50/50 really. Great question though. I think Kowaramaru loved Shinji more like a brother though.
