Absolute Anime

What era does Peacemaker take place in? I was thinking it was the Meiji era like
Rorouni Kenshin cuz of the whole Shinsengumi stuff, so yea. If someone could tell me what era it is, then I would really appreciate it!

Wikipedia says it takes place in 19th century Japan before the Meiji Restoration.

I haven't gotten to see this series yet is it any good? If its anything like Rurouni Kenshin then I know I will enjoy it.
