i think it was Gendo, in the Giant-Fan room, with a pistol. I feel this because Kaji was too into the internal affairs of NERV, and Gendo had to do something about it. It sux that he had to die, he was one of my favorite characters. But anyways, this thread is to discuss who might have killed Kaji, and WHY. Don't just say who killed him, explain why.

Gendou himself? No, I don't think so, I think he was killed by some Nerv's secret agent. Actually, before he was killed, when he sets Fuyutsuki free, he says that the Seele is near to discover who stolen Adam and gave him to Gendou, so he may be killed by Seele too.

Moreover, in the italian version, he says "siete in ritardo" (you're late), but in this case "you're" (siete) is in the plural. So, I prefer to think that some agents kill him.

I think it is Gendo because hes said "your late" and then he got shot and he was working for Gendo eariler in the show when he was getting the suitcase to him so i was thining he might have had to do away with him because he knew about what it was that was in there. Thats why i think it was him or if you got he other way it might have been agents cause there where two but who knows for sure anyway. Besides the person who made the show.

i think it was misato because she was give a certain assinment that needed a gun and Kaji acted so loose around the person who killed him and the on the aswering machien kaji told misato to water a certian flower and the he said goodbye and she started crying and all that stuff so in the end it all leads to misato.

...I knew someone had shot Kaji!! I keep missing certain episodes, and I see like all the NERV employees dead. (scared me really bad)

I must agree that it was Gendo, because maybe Kaji was getting to close to his personal objectives. Or maybe he was jealous that he could never be with Major Katsuragi Misato!!

Wow. I have seen every episode along with all the movies and not once did I bother to ask myself that question. It hurts really. I do agree that it was Gendo. It had to be. Maybe. I'll think about it and post later.

I'm leaning towards Gendo b/c of the look of familiarity that Kaji had on his face. i definitely wouldnt count Gendo out. He would hesitate to get his hands dirty

I believe it would have been Misato, for like darkguy said she was assingned to a mission with a gun.

After all, I was there, I saw everything (joking)

well, we will never know 100% who did it, but there is alot of evidance that SEELE did it with their secret agents (plural) The evidance for this is:

1) He was a double agent for Nerve, gendo had him working for SEELE, then once SEELE found out about it, whilst interigating Fuyutski, caus Kaji rescued him (i think thats how u spell his name) they sent agents to kill him.

2) Whilst he was at the abandoned barn, talking to the woman, he says something along the lines of that they (meaning seele) are getting close. Now this could mean multiple things
i) They were getting close to finding out that Nerve had adam
ii) They were getting close to finding out that he worked for Nerve.

3) Why would Nerve kill kaji for getting Fuyutski back from SEELE? Kaji rescued Fuyutski from SEELE thus alerting them to the fact that he was a double agent, thus, getting himself killed.

I agree with Thedarkc on all lines. I'm rather sure that it was agents from SEELE who killed him, but how much Gendo was involved in the decision I can't guess. It was a while since I read the books (up to the eighth volume, which are published in Sweden thus far) and I don't remember every sequence, but I am sure that it was not Misato who killed him. She was a major and had a gun along with her post and seemed well aware of how to use it, but I don't think she should have manage to, even if some of her bosses had told her to do it. You can see her reaction when she hears the message he had left on her phone-recorder (what English name have that machine?), and, to kill a person (who furthermore are your lover) if you're not a trained murderer is not an ordinary thing to do, even in the military (or what sort-of organisation Nerv is).

I just have to ask; in one of the books, probably in the latest volume published here, they mention a book named "2019, Last Year of Ryoji Kaji", and I just wonder if you know how to order this book, 'cause you can't get it on the Swedish market. If you know a good site, please tell me.

hmm... you could try Amazon.com or ebay even.... but other than those 2, you could prob just search keywords "2019, Last Year of Ryoji Kaji - buy" or something like that on google, see what comes up.

that has been bugging me for ages i heard it was one of the most discussed secrects of any anime series(if that makes any sense).
