Too many episodes

What is wrong with modern anime studios? They keep making anime series which are over 200 episodes long. A standard series lenght should be around 50 episodes.

Here are some things which make long series bad:
1. The long series have usually enormous amount of filler episodes
2. The characters become boring since you know them too well
3. The ideas are recycled over and over again
4. The story becomes bad - don't ask me why
5. Boring...

Here are few examples of too long series:
Naruto - super boring fillermaze and recycling the same idea. Soon 200 ep.
One Piece - Over 250 episodes... what can you expect?
Dragonball - Stay away from it by all costs!

The reason why studios keep making long series is money. They are greedy pigs and animate their episodes in China (low cost - low quality). The long series will be made as long as people keep watching them. My simple advice is to protest against the long series by not watching them.

Did you really have to ask this question twice on two different forums?

This is just a big and hasty generalization that holds no basis and little substance to back up the claims. There are quite a few other good lengthy animes, like Urusei Yatsura, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Doraeman, Ranma 1/2, Saint Seiya, Slam Dunk, Mazinger Z, Grendizer, and a whole host of other animes, all of which exceed 60 episodes. In fact, you are dead wrong about Dragonball and One Piece. Dragonball Z is not very good, but the original Dragonball that was based on the manga was nothing short of excellent. As for One Piece, it just keeps improving and getting better and better.

I would say more, but instead, I'll just post a link to your other topic on the AN Forums

Whoa Zengar just how many forums are you a member of?

BOT

Just because a series is long doesn't make it bad. I must say though I prefer anime series to be no longer than 50 episodes since watching 100+ episodes of anime is very time consuming.

I would agree with Zengar's sentiments. There are a number of very long series that are just great.

Do you want to know what the problem with DBZ is? Toriyama only signed up to do the first few episodes of it. Once he full filled his part of the contract he split, leaving the studio to fill the series up with endless and ultimatly useless fights. It's why the original Dragonball is much better than DBZ. However long they are they're still far short of the longest running anime series in the world. Doremon and Saze-san(sp?)

Naruto is awesome even of it's length. As long as the series makes you feel like you want too see more and more than it doesnt matter the length.

I'm pissed off with some series that are too short so it leaves alot of questions left when it ends.

Showing off your arguments Zengar? lol j/k. I find this to be wrong as well they have been countless superb series that are long, like rurouni Kenshin its very good.

Between 100-200 episodes satifies me. Full Metal Alchemist: less than 100 episodes was the only thing I hated. Pokemon: Over 800 episodes, and getting a bit repetative.
I'm trying to make my series a good length, but it can be hard.

OMG someone else agrees. I hate it when animes really short. I was pissed after the last episode of s-CRY-ed (only 26 episodes) It leaves even more questions than the early episodes do. And I never even understood FLCL but man, that is the shortest anime ever.

A good short series is nice like chrono crusade it was 26 episodes long but if you think you can figure it out pretty eaisly but I LOVE long series fillers can be annoying but they can help you understand a character's personalty and some fillers can make sense and add depth a good example is bleach episode 4 "memories in the rain" just a filler but introduced us to Ichigo's past and personally got me more involved in the series "sealed sword frenzy" not as good but still intresting and the current filler series has a solid running storyline that is inteligable and incorprates a lot of the series vets granted some have annoying fillers that add nothing but a few cheap laughs Naruto ep.113(I think) the misson to find out what is under kakashi-sama's mask good episode nothing story important but still fun to watch

from what anime i've seen so far, the average length seems to be 24 - 28 episodes long. if its longer, great, so long as the script writers keep ORIGIONAL story lines. FMA follows one story line, with one or 2 repeated concepts, but, thus far, has been the best anime ive seen in a long time. Pokémon, however... god knows how many episodes, god knows how many times the same story has been run, god knows how many times i'll sit and think "WHy did i like that?"

All the caharacters from Inuyasha really got annoying and boring after a while. Which is the reason I began to hate the show at the end

Inuyasha is a good example:

Spoiler
Show
There's no point to all the extra episodes they're showing. Also, I hear in the end, that Sango and Miroku get married. Inuyasha confesses his love to Kagome, but Naraku remains undefeated and the jewel shards remain uncollected (can't remember)
