"...one of the best-loved manga of all time..."

Rurouni Kenshin: A Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story has officially ended in the States with the release of volume 28 of the manga. While it ended long ago in Japan, for US inhabitants, this final volume is truly the end of the story for us, as the Jinchu arc was never aired here.
I went to my local Barnes and Noble yesterday to buy some CDs. I was aware that the final volume of RK would soon dawn, but I didn't think it would be released that day. Regardless, I walked to the manga section, just to look around. Their manga shelf had been re-organized and moved somewhere else, so I had to look a little harder. Perhaps it was meant to be a so, for as I slowly made my way to the R section of graphic novels, my heart sank at the sight of Rurouni Kenshin volume 28. It was wrapped in cellophane, with a blatant sticker on the front. "FINAL VOLUME!" I hesitated as I moved my hands forward and picked up my favoirte manga series...I bought that book. It was the last one. Came with a free poster too.
When I got home, I didn't want to read my sorrow. That visit to the book shop would be my last visit in search of another spellbinding RK volume. I just listened to my CDs instead. When I woke up this mornign, I had to read it. I had to finish my favorite series once and for all.
As I type this, I still can't get over it all. There will be no more long months as I wait for the latest volume. No more suspense. I cried tears of joy and tears of sorrow as I flipped through the last page.
I'll just say now that this series and its spectacular ending will not dissappoint. And not to give away any spoilers, but you will truly be amazed when you notice how all the characters have developed and matured. I thank Watsuki dearly for giving me an escape, a joy of mine own. Rurouni Kenshin will always have a place on my bookshelf. It will always have a place in my heart. Why? Beacuse no other anime has done that to me. Rurouni Kenshin is very special to me. It is my AA name sake. It is my most beloved manga. I hope it is for you too.
