New AA

Yupp, I'm suggesting just as the title says, a new AA. A total clean swipe over everything and remodel everything and add lots of goddies. Why? Well I haven't been on for a while but when I came on now I thought to myself "AA has become one of those crappy places like all other forums". AA used to be pretty special before if you ask me, the forum worked good and so did the users. That's definitly not what it is now. And I know what many may say "I have to register again!? My topic will disapear!!!! OMG My posts!!!!" and so on and so on. But if you ask me, that just might be the only way to make this place like the old days.

Give opinions, vote, say what you wish, discuss. I'm out until a few weeks later (hoping to see something better than spam in this topic or that it's empty)

i agree in some respects, and disagree in others.

EXAMPLE:

Agree: yes, a clean sweep would be good for all those spammers who're PROUD to have over 10,000 posts, all of which were probably in a severly pointless case

Disagree: as a frequent RP'er, i'd miss some of the good RP threads, especially ones that have been goin on for a while, and are still strong.

its a good idea... i'm just unsure as to how feasable (sp?) it is

It would be interesting indeed to see Pointless Chit-Chat and Roleplaying disappear...

Why should those two insanely unnecessary forums be on an Anime site...
If they do would go, how many posters will there still be I wonder...

Getting huge amount of spam-posts just by posting a single smiley or a name over and over again is so ridiculus...

I vote "Yes"...

To keep spam out of the Off Topic Discussions, I suppose...and Roleplaying is sort of necessary I think...

Anyways...starting fresh might be a good idea...and putting in some mechanism dealie so that post count does'nt increase in PCC might help as well...to avoid posting just to raise your post count...

But if this does happen, there'll have to be a notification ahead of time.

i don't really like the role playing thing but there's no way pointless Chit-Chat will disappear!
some time's,people go there to just be silly and have laugh's!
any how, i have'nt been on AA long enough to have seen what it used to look like but, it seem's okay the way it is now.im not saying that i'd be against a change but id be afraid of if i'd like the change or not.

no vote. i'll just see what other's think.

It would be interesting to see AA start over again. I've had that same thought as you. I feel that the small community of AA and now, in my opinion, it's become way too fast-paced like all the other forums and no longer has what it had when I started. The thing that made me want to come back and post day after day.

I was really never actually too concerned with my post count. If I played forum-games in the PCC forum, it was because I had fun there, it doesn't mean I just wanted to gain a thousand posts in a day. So if we did do a restart, I wouldn't be bothered with having zero posts.

Still, I'm not so sure that going back to ground-zero is going to change it. You still have the newer users/newbies and alot of them are the ones that spam.

I'm partial towards for now so I'll put my vote in.

Unfortunately, spammers are everywhere on every forum so that´s something that won´t ever change but this site seems more or less to only have spammers...

People joining to "have fun" shouldn´t really even consider being on a forum...

This place looks more like a giant playground than a discussion place, which is what a forum really should be about...

The definition of "Forum":
a public meeting or assembly for open discussion

An online discussion group, where participants with common interests can exchange open messages.

an assembly for discussing questions of foreign interests

Meeting or part of meeting set aside for an open discussion by recognized participants on subjects of public interests.
"Playground" is the last thing that would be mentioned...

Of all forums I´ve been on, this one really is the most boring...

I´m sorry for sounding so negative, but that´s what I feel...

i lost my proudness for mass posts a long time ago... but good idea

i agree there... i would hate remaking some of the large RP's

I agree with both Ethereal and Elvathir Latharion. There are many good RPs in the Role-Playing section and it would sadden many users to see them disappear (plus I believe it'd be a pain to start them again).

Ok time for the Pool to put in his 2 cents. (Finally a use for pennies!) I'm going to number them because I like numbers...

1~ There are alot of dead and worthless topics taking up space so a total restart would clean up alot of space.

2~ A redesign could help in alot of areas. Like putting the search bar into a easier seen place so we wouldn't have alot of repeat threads.

3~ On the rp side of things... If you are creative then redoing RP threads shouldn't be a pain. If you think restarting rp's is a pain then you shouldn't be there in the first place. Plus I'm sure alot of creators had ideas that really couldn't be implemented because they started and the dead rps that could be cleaned away...

4~ You could also do some refining to some of the places on here like restricting how many Mod applications can be submitted in a period of time or finding a way to disable the post count for PCC and RP forums. I've seen another place do it so I beleive a way could be found. Granted the site that did it wasn't powered by phpBB...

After some thought I vote yes...

There will always be spam unfortunately, You have to remember that most of the users on AA are children and they go off in there random moments. I am not trying to look down on any single user but I believe this will always be. What will you do when kids invade the "NEW AA"? The same thing will happen, its evident.

Anyways Maybe its not the same because most of our old friends are gone. Those of us who have been here for 1 year or more know what I mean. I believe its worth a shot but who's to say it will not turn out the same? Are you just going to ban every user who spams and who creates every stupid topic? Well we will see what happens, only time will tell. Oh yeah what about Ken? lol what does he have to say about this?

A clean sweep of deleting everything won't change a thing. The same people who are currently active will just re-register and keep posting like they currently do. But that was only part of the original message. The other part was to remodel everything and add lots of goodies, but so far I haven't heard any suggestions for remodeling or goodies to add.

Hey Jay...I have FF12 ;)

Anyways...keep discussing, I just hope this thread might bring something positive atleast. Oh yeah one more thing Webmaster that I'd like to ask...who are the current moderators and where are they? (Just asking because it kind of seems like no moderator is ever online, well maybe Symos from time to time.)

There is a link to the list of moderators on the Rules and Guidelines thread: http://www.absoluteanime.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7067

For convenience, here it is again:
http://www.absoluteanime.com/forum/groupcp.php?g=620

Also, there is a link on the main forum page, near the bottom, called View Moderator Actions that will let you view a page with recent moderator actions.
